Dedication
To our late Chairman, Paul Lowen
We dedicate our activities for Action for Involvement to our late Chairman, Paul Lowen, who passed away on 25th March 2006. Paul was critically ill for much of 2005 and had also suffered from long term health problems since 1999.
Action for Involvement came about from an Event we organised under the Power Inquiry chaired by Baroness Helena Kennedy QC and funded by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust in 2005. With great vision, Paul forecast that the Power Inquiry would continue as a major pressure group to encourage political involvement and participation.
As AFIs guiding light, Paul was instrumental in developing our strategy and formulating our thinking. Paul began his professional relationship with our Secretary, Wendy Stern, in 1998 and informed her thinking on wide-ranging management issues and the closely related issues of best practice Together they went on to publish research at international conferences for the British Psychological Society and organisations such as British Steel, Nat West Bank’s Corporate Banking Service, Sheppard Moscow Consulting Ltd and The Industrial Society.
Paul made significant contributions to Wendy’s reports on software licensing finance agreements and related matters for various bodies including The Insolvency Services Consultation Exercise on bankruptcy and insolvency in 2000.
We were most fortunate to enjoy the benefit of Paul’s professional expertise to develop our survey questionnaire with Wendy. Together, they authored our September 2005 Event Report and set the standard of our future publications.
Paul will be very sadly missed by us all with condolences to his family.
